Electric or Mineral-Based Alkaline Water Ionizers?
Posted by IntelGadgets on 11th Sep 2015
Alkaline and acidic water provide many benefits to wellness, cleaning, and more, and you can gain continuous access to water with specific pH levels by setting up an alkaline machine in your home. Two types of alkaline water systems are available that change the pH level of your home’s tap water, but they don’t accomplish this feat in the same manner.
Electricity
Water ionizer machines use electricity to create alkaline, acidic, or neutral water across a wide range of pH levels. They use electrolysis to ionize the water, whereas water made alkaline in other ways is not ionized. Water ionizer machines use ionizer plates to move the water over positive and negative electrodes and separate acidic and alkaline minerals in the water.
Ionized alkaline water has much higher antioxidant counts to boost health and fight disease than alkaline water that hasn’t been ionized. The water that comes out of ionizer machines also has a smooth and delicious taste, and is made up of micro water molecules that hydrate the body well because the small size easily absorbs into the body’s cells.
Minerals
Other types of alkaline machines do not rely on electricity to alter the pH of water, but instead use minerals to change the water’s properties. These machines include filters that add the minerals, while also taking out contaminants in the water.
These options are more limited than their electric counterparts, as they do not have the same ability to turn the water acidic or neutral, and they don’t offer as many antioxidants or as superior hydration. Nonetheless, the mineral varieties are perfect if you’re looking for the benefits of alkaline water at a lower price point and with fewer bells and whistles.
The AOK-505 5-Filter Alkaline Water Ultra Filtration System is one model that works this way. Its five-filter design creates alkaline water with minerals, and in the process, removes an array of contaminants, including chlorine, fluoride, and bacteria.
Choose the alkaline water system that works best for you based on your purposes for the water, your budget, and how the machine will fit in your kitchen.
